Studied at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in Munich.

He directed 3 shorts before he worked as an editor mainly for Roland Emmerich Films. From 1994 he started directing episodes for the TV-Series "Im Namen des Gesetzes" followed by several TV-Movies "Twiggy - love on a diet" (1998), "Picknick in the snow" (1999) and "Winter of regret" (2000). "Soccer Rules!", a story about crazy, but heartwarming German soccer fans, was his theatrical debut (2001), followed by the remake of Erich Kaestner's "The Flying Classroom" (2003), which won the German Film Award. For "Willkommen im Westerwald" (2009) he and the writer Beate Langmaack were awarded The European Civis TV-Award for best entertaining TV-Movie. Currently, 2011, he is working on the German-Italian movie "Oma in Roma".
